How to Update Your Institution and Keyholder Information

Many informational items related to your institution's information or your keyholder information can (and should) be updated regularly. Here is what you need to know:

  • To change keyholders or update any keyholder information such as a new phone number or new email address: Login to the collection system, go to the TOOLS menu and select the "Registration" option. The individual whose information appears here is considered to be the keyholder and all information should be kept up-to-date. No phone calls or emails to NCES or the Help Desk are necessary to change your institution's keyholder -- just update this page!
  • To update the institution information such as a new website, new phone numbers, or a new Chief Executive: Login to the collection system, click on the "Edit Identification" link which is located on the main survey selection screen, in the right-hand column (under Options). Edit information as needed on this page. Changes made here during the spring data collection will be immediately reflected on IPEDS COOL.
