Options Suggested for Classification of First-professional Degree Reporting in IPEDS
We have just posted an update on this topic on What's New in IPEDS (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/whatsnew.asp). This document outlines the work that has been done by the NCES/IPEDS Senior Fellow on this matter, and presents four options for consideration in addressing the first-professional degree classification topic. The document also discusses the procedure that will be followed for resolution of this issue.
NCES is concerned about how the adoption of any of these options will affect institutional data and its use in informing policy, as well as the timeframe that would be necessary for implementation.
We encourage interested parties to send any comments, concerns, or suggestions about these options and their implementation to the email addresses included at the end of the document by September 12, 2005.
