Reformatting of IPEDS Human Resources Survey

Please note that the Winter 2005-06 IPEDS collection will include the new Human Resources (HR) survey, which combines Employees by Assigned Position, Fall Staff, and Salaries. Key differences in reporting are as follows:

• The Employees by Assigned Position (EAP) section must be completed first, since it serves as the "driver" for the rest of the screens. Once EAP is completed, other sections will appear as applicable.
• Totals will be carried forward from one section to another, whenever possible.
• Staff whose primary function is instruction, or instruction combined with research and public service are to be reported in the Salaries section regardless of faculty status.
• Staff whose primary function is instruction, research, public service, or a combination of those are to be reported in the Fall Staff section regardless of faculty status.
• One lock will be required (instead of three) and final edits will be run to ensure that counts (of staff) between sections match.

The Winter collection opens on December 7, and it is suggested that the HR survey be completed well in advance of the January 25, 2006, deadline, so as to prevent any last minute confusion resulting from the new formatting.
