This Week In IPEDS (TWII)
New Data Release Procedures for IPEDS
Beginning with data submitted in the 2011-12 collection cycle, IPEDS data will be released in the IPEDS Data Center in three stages: preliminary; provisional; and final. These data release procedures are designed to publicly release data for national, state, or institutional level analysis as quickly as possible. More details on the three data release stages are available at: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/resource/download/IPEDS_DataReleaseProcedures.pdf.
An IPEDS First Look publication will be published with both the preliminary and provisional release data. In July, the First Look based on the preliminary Fall data was released (Postsecondary Institutions and Price of Attendance in 2011-12; Degrees and Other Awards Conferred: 2010-11; and 12-Month Enrollment: 2010-11 (Preliminary Data)), and is available at: http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2012289. Earlier this week the First Look based on preliminary Winter data was released (Employees in Postsecondary Institutions, Fall 2011 and Student Financial Aid, Academic Year 2010–11 - First Look (Preliminary Data)), and is available at: http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2012156. The Fall and Winter First Look reports will be reissued based on provisional data in the coming months. In addition, First Look reports based on the preliminary and provisional Spring data will be published as the data become available.
Updated IPEDS Analytics: Delta Cost Project Database 1987-2010
The IPEDS Analytics: Delta Cost Project Database has been updated to include data for the 2009-10 academic year. This longitudinal database includes data from the IPEDS finance, enrollment, human resources, completions, graduation rates and student financial aid survey components for academic years 1986-87 through 2009-10. These data have been translated into analytical formats to allow for longitudinal analyses of trends in postsecondary education with a focus on revenues and expenditures. The database is available at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/deltacostproject and can be downloaded in SAS, SPSS, STATA, and CSV formats.
