TRP Suggestions Available for Comment
Suggestions from two Technical Review Panel Meetings are posted at https://edsurveys.rti.org/IPEDS_TRP/Index.aspx and are currently open for comment. These TRP meetings include Technical Review Panel #32, "Improvements to the Student Financial Aid Survey" that was held September 14-15, 2010 in Arlington, VA, and Technical Review Panel #23, "Collecting Data on Distance Education" that was held April 22-23, 2008 in Arlington, VA. Comments from interested parties should be sent to Janice Kelly-Reid, IPEDS Project Director at RTI International, at ipedsTRPcomment@rti.org, and are due by December 3, 2010.
Enhanced Group Statistics Report
The "Create Group Statistics" option within the IPEDS Data Center ( http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/) has recently been enhanced. This option allows users to generate a report containing summary statistics for a group of institutions for one or more IPEDS variables. Recent enhancements provide for the ability to obtain separate analysis for subgroups within the original comparison group. Additionally, users can now obtain calculations for aggregate data for a selected group of institutions (for example: mean graduation rate, median out-of-state tuition, total enrollment for public institutions, etc) and then drill down to create more detailed analyses by groups (e.g. within Carnegie classification, state, level of institution, etc). The tool also allows users to highlight a comparison institution and weigh its variable values against multiple sub-groups.
IPEDS Data Availability Update
The Human Resource 2009 data are now available at the Public-release level access of the IPEDS Data Center ( http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/). In addition, the Reported Data (previously known as forms facsimiles) for all 2009-10 survey components are now available.
