TIPS for Submitting Completions Data

Due to the introduction of CIP 2010 for use with reporting of the Completions Survey Component (C) during the current 2010-11 Fall Collection, there has been some confusion related to re-coding of moved or deleted CIP codes. Additionally, for those institutions re-classifying post-baccalaureate degree levels, additional re-coding may be required. As such, when keying in Completions data, it helps to do things in this order:
  1. Recode any CIP codes in BLUE on your program selection list (you may not have any). This should be done by clicking the link on the program selection screen that says "Please click here to check those CIPS."
  2. Recode award levels in GREEN (you may not have any of these, either). This should be done by clicking the link on the program selection screen that says "Please click here to select the appropriate new post-baccalaureate award levels."
  3. Add new programs and modify award levels.
  4. Enter data, perform edits, resolve errors.

NOTE: Uploading data will delete any existing data, so uploading (when applicable) should always be done prior to keying. If you are uploading Completions data, invalid CIP codes will be rejected, so you should first check to make sure all of the CIPs on your file are valid 2010 CIPs.
