Net Price Calculator (NPC) Webinar

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) will host a free webinar on the new Net Price Calculator (NPC) requirement, on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:30 PM (EST). The webinar is funded by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The Webinar will provide a demonstration of the NPC template as well as some background on the calculator and the related disclosure requirements. Additionally, a panel of experts will answer webinar participant questions at the end of the presentation. Registration is required to attend the NPC Webinar. TRP Suggestions Available for Comment

Two Technical Review Panel (TRP) meetings were held recently. The first TRP convened to further discuss the new Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requirements related to “State Higher Education Spending Charts.” The second TRP convened to discuss “Improvements to the Completions Survey.” Suggestions from both meetings are now available for comment on the RTI website: https://edsurveys.rti.org/IPEDS_TRP/Index.aspx. Comments should be sent by February 15, 2010. Please see the meeting reports for additional details.

AIR/NCES Data Policy Fellows Reports

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) has recently posted three reports authored by AIR/NCES Data Policy Fellows, located at: http://www.airweb.org/page.asp?page=818#Postdoc. Many IPEDS Keyholders participated in the research for these reports, and may be interested in the results. Topics of the posted reports are: 1) Peer Comparison Data: Meeting the Needs of Campus Decision-Makers By Matthew Soldner, 2) Transfer-Out Reporting on the IPEDS Graduation Rate Survey: A First Look at Trends and Methods by Allan Medwick, and 3) Features of Campus Data Systems and Reporting to IPEDS by Crissie Grove. The Data Policy Fellow Program is designed to improve the quality, comparability, and usefulness of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, and receives financial support from NCES.
