This Week In IPEDS (TWII)
Locking your IPEDS survey
Title IV Institutions: Please remember that the completion of all IPEDS surveys, in a timely and accurate manner, is mandatory for all institutions that participate or are applicants for participation in any Federal financial assistance program authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965, as amended. IPEDS surveys are mandated by 20 U.S.C. 1094(a)(17).
In order to complete all requirements for data submission, keyholders must LOCK each survey. Under “Steps to Locking,” be sure to "Perform Edits" and resolve any errors. When activated (underlined), click “Lock” and follow the instructions. Please be sure to check your Survey status to make sure that it reads Locked or Complete after you have locked your data. Note that the collection will close on January 28, 2004 and we are unable to accept late data submissions.
Providing/Updating Prior Year Data
Because some Title IV institutions did not complete all of the 2002-03 surveys as required by the HEA, the office of Federal Student Aid issued fine notices and warnings to over 450 institutions. These institutions are strongly encouraged to provide their missing data using the IPEDS Data Revision System, which is available at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/webbase.asp.
This system requires a separate login (it has a separate URL from the current Data Collection System); however, use your current UserID and password for access. Winter surveys may only be accessed while the current year's winter collection is open; spring surveys must be modified in the spring. Fall surveys can no longer be modified.
