See the Federal Register posting [Federal Register Volume 87, Number 105, Pages 33140-33141] opening the 30-day public comment period on the request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for changes to the IPEDS Collection years 2022-23 through 2024-25. Details on the proposed changes can be found in the Supporting Documents posted on the reginfo.gov website at: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAViewICR?ref_nbr=202202-1850-008. A summary of the proposed changes can be found by selecting the link to "View Supporting Statement and Other Documents." Proposed survey component forms and instructions can be found by selecting the link to "View Information Collection (IC) List."
Comments should be submitted through the reginfo.gov site linked above and are due by July 1, 2022.
Below is a summary of revisions/changes based on comments received during the 60-day public comment period. Note that this is NOT the complete list of changes, but only the modifications made to the original list of proposed changes.
- The proposed gender question has been revised, replacing ‘Gender other’ with ‘Another gender’ and asking institutions whether they are able to report ‘Another gender’ in each collection. This has resulted in revisions to the following documents: Appendix A; Appendix D; Part A; and survey packages for 12-Month Enrollment, Completions, Fall Enrollment, Admissions, and Graduation Rates.
- Changed the FAQ and instructions associated with reporting DACA and undocumented students and race/ethnicity. This has resulted in changes to the following documents: Appendix A; Appendix D; Part A; and survey packages for 12-Month Enrollment, Completions, Fall Enrollment, and Graduation Rates.
- Changes to the new collection of noncredit education activity. This has resulted in changes to Appendix A and the survey packages for 12-Month Enrollment and Institutional Characteristic.
- Added a definition of ‘Promise Program’ to the Glossary.
- Removed the additional special learning opportunities questions due to potential confusion with noncredit additions. This has resulted in changes to Appendix A and the survey package for Institutional Characteristics.
- Revised language around tools used to establish English proficiency. This has resulted in changes to the survey package for Admissions and the Glossary.
