Classification of Instructional Programs update

The 2000 version of the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP 2000) is now available on the IPEDS website (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/web2000/cip2000.asp). CIP 2000 will be used beginning with the 2003-04 Completions Survey and the Fall 2004 Enrollment Survey.

Reporting to the Finance Survey for GASB standards

Public institutions using GASB standards for reporting finance data will be required to implement the new GASB 34/35 standards sometime in the next three years. NCES has developed a new finance form to accommodate the change to GASB 34/35 – a draft of this form can be found on the IPEDS website at: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/web2000/GASB.asp. This form will be available for reporting FY2003 finance data; the “old” form will also be available until all institutions have converted to the new standards.

Collection change to “Other Administrative”

The “Other Administrative” category used during the Winter 2001-2002 collection on both the EAP and Fall Staff components will NOT be used for the Winter 2002-2003 or any subsequent collections. This is being removed at the request of our respondents due to inconsistencies with EEO affirmative action plans.

Recent SHEEO/IPEDS meeting

The 2002 SHEEO/IPEDS conference and workshop was held on May 28-30. Information and copies of presentations from the workshop will be available shortly on the SHEEO website.

New Racial/Ethnicity changes

Implementation of the new racial/ethnic categories for reporting IPEDS data appears to be at a standstill. Any new information about the implementation will be posted as soon as we have it.

Review previously submitted data

To review data submitted during either the Spring 2001 or Fall 2001 collection, you can access the following site: http://165.224.221.222/fall2001/Welcome.asp. Log in with your current ID and password; go to TOOLS, choose Select SurveyID, choose either collection and click on select. This will provide you access to your Spring or Fall 2001 survey screens and allow you to view and/or print your submission.

Peer Analysis System and winter data

The Winter 2001-02 data are available at the Institutional level of the IPEDS Peer Analysis System. You can access Winter 2001-02 data, as well as Fall 2001 data, by using your institution's IPEDS ID (UNITID) as both the UserID and password to enter the peer tool at the Institution level. Users may also view and/or print their Winter data from the Spring data collection site. To access the Winter data, go to Reports and choose Winter 2001 (data).
