This Week In IPEDS (TWII)
Announcing the new IPEDS website
If you haven’t had a chance yet, check out the new the IPEDS website (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/), which was released on Monday, August 10, 2015. Because the website is visited by a diverse audience (i.e., data providers, researchers, students, parents, etc.), we have redesigned and organized the website with such visitors in mind. The IPEDS homepage now has four main portals:
1) Find Your College – Students, parents, and guidance counselors will find College Navigator, other consumer information products from the U.S. Department of Education, FAFSA, college loan counseling, and other federal agencies’ links on career options.
2) Use the Data – Researchers and policy analysts who are interested in using IPEDS data will find the most frequently used Data Center tools and research products through this portal. Some of the tool names have remained the same, such as Look Up an Institution and Compare Institutions. Some tools have new names to help visitors identify the best tool for their research needs. For example, Generate Pre-defined Reports is now called Summary Tables and the IPEDS Trends Generator is now labeled as Data Trends.
3) Report Your Data – Data providers will not only find the links to Data Collection Systems (current and prior year revision), but will also be able to locate survey materials, updates, guides, and tools to assist in successful and accurate IPEDS reporting.
4) Join In – Interested visitors will find several ways to stay connected with IPEDS through activities and outreach efforts, such as This Week in IPEDS (TWII), AIR IPEDS Trainings, IPEDS Listserv and Twitter, TRPs, and NPEC.
We hope you’ll take the time to familiarize yourselves with the new website, which aims to be more accessible to visitors with diverse needs. Lastly, the website is not complete, and we are still making improvements. We welcome your constructive feedback, which can be emailed to Gigi Jones, the project lead on the website redesign.
