IPEDS Data Center Enhancements

The IPEDS Data Center ( http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/) has recently been enhanced with the following features: 1) Variables are now color coded to identify the type of variable (continuous, categorical and alpha/string), and 2) When using the “compare individual institutions” function, there is now an option to include a list of values and value labels for all of the categorical variables in your downloaded file.

HR Survey Component - Did you Know?

Did you know that the IPEDS HR survey now collects information on instructional staff teaching for-credit vs. not-for-credit courses (for degree-granting institutions with >15 full time staff)? In addition to the major revision to the IPEDS Human Resources survey component due to alignment with the 2010 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes, the survey component now has some additional data elements being collected, including an item which requires instructional faculty to be designated as teaching “exclusively for-credit,” “exclusively not-for-credit,” and “combined credit/not-for-credit.” Please take steps to ensure that your institution is prepared to report using the revised HR survey form.
