1) IPEDS TRP Summary Open for Comment

Suggestions from IPEDS Technical Review Panel #63, "Capturing and Clarifying Dual Enrollment Data (Part II)" are posted at https://edsurveys.rti.org/IPEDS_TRP/Default.aspx and are currently open for comment. This TRP meeting was held on March 23 and 24, 2021, using videoconference technology. Comments from interested parties should be sent to Amy Barmer, IPEDS Technical Review Panel Task Leader at RTI International, at ipedsTRPcomment@rti.org, and are due by August 6, 2021.

2) CIP 2020 Updates

NCES will be making two changes to the 2020 CIP which will become effective with the opening of the Fall 2021 Data Collection:

1) Addition of CIP Code 49.0109 Remote Aircraft Pilot: A program that prepares individuals to fly an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for commercial or personal use, and qualifies individuals to sit for the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate with small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) rating knowledge examination. Includes instruction in principles of unmanned aircraft system design and performance; aircraft flight systems and controls; airway safety and traffic regulations; and governmental rules and regulations pertaining to piloting unmanned aircraft. This CIP code is being added due to the growth in the number of certificate programs for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

2) Modifying the title of CIP code 51.0912 from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate/Assistant, which reflects an overall trend in the profession. In May 2021 the American Association of PAs officially voted to change the name of their profession from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate, with the goal of boosting their professional relevance and impact.
