Spring 2017 (Provisional) data is also scheduled for release on Dec. 28, 2017, and includes Enrollment; Employees in Postsecondary Institutions; Financial Statistics; and Academic Libraries. Finally, the Fall 2016 (Provisional) data is scheduled for release on Jan. 9, 2018, and includes Postsecondary Institutions and Cost of Attendance; Degrees and Other Awards Conferred; and 12-Month Enrollment. On the dates specified, First Look reports will be published on the NCES Publications site, and the data will be available through the IPEDS Use the Data page.
2. TRP Report Available for Comment
A report from the most recent meeting of the IPEDS Technical Review Panel is posted at https://edsurveys.rti.org/IPEDS_TRP/Default.aspx and are currently open for comment. Suggestions are from Technical Review Panel #54, “Exploring Topical Issues in Higher Education” that was held October 3 and 4, 2017, in Washington DC. Comments from interested parties should be sent to Janice Kelly-Reid, IPEDS Project Director at RTI International, at ipedsTRPcomment@rti.org, and are due by January 25, 2018.
3. CIP 2020 Survey
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is currently updating the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP). As part of this process, proposals for new CIP Codes are being solicited from IPEDS keyholders and coordinators. In late January, IPEDS keyholders and coordinators will receive an email from Dr. Allan Joseph Medwick (amedwick@cipwizard.com), a contractor who will be administering the survey on behalf of NCES. The email will contain a personalized link to an online survey where suggestions can be submitted for new CIP Codes for possible inclusion in the 2020 CIP. Participation is voluntary, but greatly appreciated. NCES expects to publish an updated version of the CIP in the summer of 2019.
